A newly constructed outdoor sports centre in South Korea has had all the hard surface games areas supplied by Suffolk-based Sports Coatings Ltd.
The Paju public sports and recreation facility in Seoul offers hard surface multi-use games areas, tennis courts and an in-line skating rink, in-line skating being very popular with young Koreans.
The Sports Coatings surface system Proflex Hardcourt was specified for use throughout the centre and installation was carried out by the company's local contractor under the technical guidance of Sports Coatings UK staff.
Sports Coatings technical sales manager Duncan Wilson commented: "The Proflex system is easy to apply, although we always offer to be on hand to provide technical support to contractors.
"In this case, it was the first skating rink where Sports Coatings systems have been used."
The Proflex system provides an exceptionally durable surface, providing good grip and play characteristics.
Application of the system involved a tarmac resurfacer to provide the smooth surface required, followed by two coats of coloured acrylic wear layers and a coloured acrylic top coat. Finally, the playing lines were applied using Sports Coatings water-based acrylic paint.
The success of the system at the Paju facility subsequently led to orders for three further installations elsewhere in the city.
