Silver technology in Otto's new sealant |

Sealants and adhesives company Hermann Otto introduced two new high quality sealants at Bau 2009 recently.
OTTOSEAL® S 130 and S 140 both feature the OTTO Fungitect Silver technology, silver offering antibiotic, antimicrobial and fungicidal properties which - having dropped out of use with the introduction of antibiotics - are now being rediscovered.
Fungitect is said not to wash out of the sealant, even under a heavy water flow, and can therefore develop its effect over a longer period.
Otto claims this means that it protects elastic joints in rooms where the strain on the silicone joints is high - such as moisture-prone areas in public showering and bathing areas, swimming pools, sports facilities, fitness studios, hospitals, spas, wellness areas and hotel bathrooms - from mould development for longer than has previously been the case.
Depending on the application and environmental conditions, the customary maintenance intervals for the joints can be extended significantly, offering the possibility of a worthwhile impact on running costs.
OTTOSEAL S 130, a sanitary and natural stone silicone, is available in ten standard colours for the pointing on ceramic tiles and natural stone in permanently wet areas.
OTTOSEAL S 140, developed primarily for swimming pool, underwater and natural stone joints, can be supplied in seven standard colours and is also ideal for floor joints.
